Genome-wide identification of the MCU gene family and expression analysis during Ralstonia solanacearum infection in Nicotiana tabacum L

摘要: The mitochondrial calcium uniporter (MCU), involved in intracellular Ca2+ signaling and reactive oxygen species (ROS) metabolism, is likely to play a crucial role in plant defense responses. In this study, we identified 11 MCU genes from the genome of Nicotiana tabacum L., and analyzed their phylogenetic relationships, physicochemical properties, structural characteristics, and transcriptional regulation. Additionally, qRT-PCR data were used to analyze the expression profiles of NtMCUs in different tissues, during Ralstonia solanacearum infection, and under exogenous hormone treatment. The results revealed that the 11 NtMCUs were clustered into two subgroups. Subgroups I and II are ancient and stable, but have generated functional differentiation. NtMCU1, NtMCU7, NtMCU11, and NtMCU8 exhibited significant differential expression between bacterial wilt-resistant and -susceptible varieties, making them key candidate genes for breeding BW-resistant crops. NtMCUs identification and analysis can contribute to understanding their potential functions in BW defense responses and provide a support for further studies.
