摘要: The heterotic groups of 29 maize (Zea mays L.) inbreds were classified by analyzing combining ability and genetic similarity in this study. The materials included four temperate inbreds (Huangzaosi, Mo17, B73, and Dan340), which represent four main heterotic groups in China, and 25 typical tropical inbreds, which were derived from five main tropical maize populations and landraces (Suwan1, POP21, POP32, POP28, and Antigua). The 25 tropical maize inbreds were crossed with the four temperate inbreds by NC2 design and then the 100 crosses were evaluated in three different environments in Yunnan Province to estimate their combining ability. The genetic similarity was estimated by using simple sequence repeats (SSRs) markers. Cluster analysis was conducted based on the genetic similarity coefficient. The 29 inbreds were classified into four groups: tropical inbreds were included in group 1, in which there were two heterotic groups: A and B. Group A included M11, M12, M13, M14, M15 (POP21) and M17 (POP32), which were derived from dent grain germplasm (Tuxpeno); group B was flint grain germplasm, which included the remaining 18 tropical inbreds derived from Suwan1, Antigua, POP32 (ETO) and POP28. The group 2 included Dan340 and Huangzaosi that are the typical inbreds of temperate heterotic groups in China. The group 3 included Mo17 and M9 (Antigua). The inbred B73 was included in the group 4. It generally agreed with the known pedigree data and the results of combining ability.
