摘要: Photosynthesis is the most important chemical reaction in the world. Improving photosynthetic efficiency has always been the most basic and logical way to increase crop yields. In recent years, many marvelous achievements have been made in rice and tobacco, but research on high photosynthetic efficiency in soybeans has stagnated. This chapter briefly introduces the principles of photosynthesis and the contribution of photosynthesis to soybean yield; reviews the progress of the photosynthates allocation within seeds and nodules, and the further effects of the photosynthates distribution on filling, yield and quality; reviews the contribution of the coordination of two essential elements of carbon and nitrogen between source and sink to soybean yield and nodules; summarizes the critical functions of the various of sugar transporters and key enzymes for carbon related metabolisms; summarizes the contribution of novel tools such as synthetic biology and phenomics to the improvements of soybean photosynthetic efficiency and prospects the potentials of combinations of multiple powerful tools to breed and cultivate soybean materials and varieties with excellent photosynthesis performance. We hope this review to provide new idea on soybean photosynthesis and shed light on the next green revolution of soybean industry.
