摘要： Peach, with a history of cultivation for over 4,000 years, is originated from the Yellow River valleys and the Loess Plateau regions in China. China has been the largest producer of peach and nectarine since 1978. Nectarine is widely favored by peopleall over the world because of its smooth and hairless surface, the bright color and the juicy fragrant and nutritious flesh, so it has become the main target cultivar in the world for improvement aimed at fresh consumption. This article gives general information for the breeding progress of nectarine in China, and makes a brief introduction to some mainly-cultivated cultivars and some newly-bred cultivars. At last, it is suggested as the breeding direction for nectarine and flat peaches in the future.
