摘要: Determining optimal environmental conditions for juvenile sh is necessary to improve production (Hart et al., 1996). Light conditions are very important for sh and larvae, depending upon the developmental stage and species (Endal et al., 2000). The relationship between photoperiod and growth has been studied extensively in a number of sh species (Boeuf and Le Bail, 1999). In salmonids, the photoperiod is classied as a directive factor (Taylor et al., 2006), and continuous or extended lighting has successfully enhanced the growth of juvenile sh including Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) (Krakenes et al., 1991; Hansen et al., 1992; Oppedal et al., 1999; Endal et al., 2000), and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) (Taylor et al., 2006; Turker, 2009). However, literature is scarce regarding the eects of extended photoperiods on growth of masu salmon (Oncorhynchus masou masou), which was introduced into China in the 1990s for aquaculture of O. masou masou owing to its high market value (Wang, 1998; Bai et al., 2004). The objectives of this study were to investigate whether continuous or extended lighting can enhance growth performance of O. masou masou juveniles, and to optimize the use of photoperiod manipulation in O. masou masou juvenile rearing.
