摘要: Echo integration techniques are widely used to estimate abundance and distribution of epipelagic sh (Simmonds and MacLennan, 2005). Background noise received by the transducer can change swiftly and markedly with environmental variation, ship speed and water depth (Watkins and Brierley, 1996; Korneliussen, 2000; Mitson and Knudsen, 2003; Robertis and Higginbottom, 2007). Due to the Time Varied Gain (TVG) compensation function of the echosounder, background noise received by the transducer increases with water depth.
