摘要: Axonopus compressus (Sw.) P. Beauv. is one of the important tropical turfgrasses. Although it is widely distributed in South China, studies on the asexual reproduction characteristics (ARC) of widespread indigenous accessions are lacking. The purpose of this study was to use eight ARCs to preliminarily assess the genetic variation among 83 carpet grass accessions from China, Australia, and Grenada. We found that (1) there is rich diversity in asexual reproduction in carpet grass, with coefficients of variants ranging from 18.79-131.55% (average 40.63%); (2) there existed significant correlations among the ARCs, with the exception of vertical growth rate; (3) there were significant linear correlations ( P<0.05) between the latitude, longitude, and altitude of the collection sites and the vertical growth rate; and (4) the 83 accessions can be clustered into three asexual reproduction types - rapid, intermediate, and slow stolon propagation - based on these eight ARCs. Based on these preliminary results, excellent accessions can been selected to supply a foundation for the development, use, and breeding new cultivars.
