摘要: The Thinopyrum genus has proved to be a rich source of useful genes for wheat improvement. Seven high-molecu 1 ar-weight glutenin subunit genes from E and St genomes in Thinopyrum have been cloned and compared with those of common wheat. The composition and quantities of HMW-GS play a key rule in wheat quality (Payne, 1987), but the number of HMW-GS genes that contributed to good quality is limited in common wheat (Shewry et all992). Therefore, it is necessary to identify new HMW-GS genes withgood quality from wheat related genera (Martin et all999), in which Thinopyrum is an important gene pool that needed to be exploited (Cauderon.1979).
