摘要： The potyvirus family is the largest and possibly economically most important group of plant viruses. A major breakthrough in the identification and classification of sugarcane mosaic potyvirus (ScMV) complex has been shown to consist of four distinct potyviruses and includes strains of johnsongrass mosaic virus (JGMV), maize dwarf mosaic virus (MDMV), sorghum mosaic virus (SrMV) and ScMV. Recently, we noticed a new mild mosaic virus disease of sugarcane in Zhejiang Province, China. In this paper, we firstly reported the complete nucleotide sequence and genome properties of this virus, assessed its relationships to viruses belonging to the ScMV group, and proposed it to be a new potyvirus, named as sugarcane mosaic virus (ScMMV).
