摘要: Rice black-streaked dwarf virus (RBSDV) and maize rough dwarf virus (MRDV) are closely related members of the genus Fijivirus. They are both transmitted by the planthopper Laodelphax striatellus Fallen, and can be experimentally transmitted to rice, maize, wheat and other cereal and grass hosts, in which they produce similar symptoms. However MRDV does not naturally infect rice whereas RBSDV can be found on both rice and maize. The virions have the same particle morphology and are serologically related and their genomes are similar in size with 10 segments of dsRNA. Serological comparisons and hybridisation experiments with cDNA probes suggest that they are distinct viruses and this is reflected in the latest taxonomic treatment, although there have been suggestions that they should be considered geographical races of the same virus. The segments S7, S8, S9 and S10 of RBSDV are homologous respectively to S6, S7, S8 and S10 of MRDV and there are 85% approx 87.5% identical nucleotides between them.
