摘要: The bioelectrochemical system (BES) has been demonstrated to enhance anaerobic ammonium oxidation (Anammox) reactions in wastewater treatment processes, commonly referred to as electro-Anammox. However, there is currently a gap in research regarding the factors influencing the formation of electro-Anammox biofilms, particularly the carbon-to-nitrogen (C/N) ratio of the influent. In this study, BES was designed to selectively enrich electro-Anammox biofilms to examine the effects of different C/N ratios (1/1, 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4) on denitrification performance, redox activity, and community composition. The results demonstrated that the stable maximum output voltage of the microbial fuel cell inoculated with activated sludge granules reached 0.5 V, and the total nitrogen removal efficiency increased with the influent C/N ratio, ranging from 63.12 % to 82.5 %. Additionally, stable electro-Anammox biofilms could be established within a short period (less than 15 days). The community structure analysis indicated that iron-ammonium oxidizing (Feammox) bacteria, electroactive bacteria, fermentative bacteria, and denitrifying bacteria were enriched, with the electroactive species Geobacter exhibiting the highest relative abundance (21.83 %-39.73 %). The abundance of Feammox bacteria increased as the relative content of influent ammonium increased, with relative abundances of 0.06 %, 4.56 %, 5.91 %, and 18.06 % under C/N ratios of 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4, respectively. Therefore, this study demonstrated that the integration of bioelectrochemical technology with an optimal C/N ratio facilitated the rapid and selective enrichment of electro-Anammox biofilms, leading to a high abundance of Feammox bacteria and thus achieving efficient and low-energy nitrogen removal.
